This study examines the role of leader-managers in achieving sustainability in business organizations through a conceptual and practice-oriented perspective. Sustainability is discussed not as a temporary managerial trend, but as a strategic necessity associated with long-term organizational survival, resilience, and competitiveness. Building on key sustainability frameworks, the paper reviews how sustainability can be integrated into corporate strategy by emphasizing multi-dimensional performance considerations and stakeholder expectations. The study also highlights the strategic value creation potential of sustainability in terms of risk management, innovation, operational efficiency, and long-term competitive positioning. In the leadership dimension, sustainable leadership is conceptualized through characteristics such as a long-term sustainability-oriented vision, ethical and value-based governance, stakeholder orientation, a high-trust organizational climate, teamwork, and continuous learning and innovation. Overall, the study argues that sustainable outcomes in organizations are strongly shaped by leader-managers’ ability to embed sustainability into strategy and organizational culture in a consistent and measurable manner.
